How it works

Eleven workspaces.
Three phases. One approval at a time.

SeriousPixel Studio is one suite organized the way a production runs: pre-production, production and post-production. Each workspace is approved before the next builds on it, and any workspace can send work back.

Empty Draft / in progress Approved Stale — something upstream changed

Same layout everywhere

Learn one workspace, know them all.

Every workspace opens the same way: what you’re building from on the left, the work in the middle, versions and approvals on the right, and the job queue along the bottom. Dense dark panels, keyboard-first.

InputsThe approved upstream version, the Story Bible, references.
The workScript editor, image canvas, shot grid, timeline or mixer.
VersionsVersion drawer, compare, comments and Approve.
Queue & budgetLocal GPU and hosted jobs in one queue, with estimates and spend to date.

Pre-production

From a one-line idea to a locked script, a Story Bible and a full set of boards. Paid plans

01Develop

Paid plans

Type a Spark or drop in a book, story or brief. Compare treatments and pick one. For a book, SP Studio reads chapter by chapter and keeps a running memory of characters, places and timeline — adapt it faithfully, condensed, as a modern retelling, or as a series that maps chapters to episodes.

Output
Spark brief, logline, treatment
Gate
Treatment approved

02Script

Paid plans

Build beats, scenes and the screenplay — guided beats-first, a full first draft, or import your own script. Every revision is a version, approved scenes can be locked, and the breakdown lists cast, locations, props and wardrobe per scene. Optional table read with cast voices.

Output
Beat sheet, screenplay (Fountain), breakdown
Gate
Script approved

03Design

Paid plans

Choose a Look Pack and build the style bible: palette, lens and lighting rules, texture, references and a “never do this” list. Lock cast, locations and props on sheets with several angles and variants, and give each character a cast voice.

Output
Style bible, character / location / prop sheets, concept art
Gate
Bible locked

04Boards

Paid plans

Review the shot list generated from the script, create a board frame for every shot, and play the animatic with temp audio to check timing before a single take is shot.

Output
Shot list, board frames, animatic
Gate
Boards approved

Production

Shots, takes and dailies — directed like a shoot. Paid plans

05Shoot

Paid plans

Each shot carries its description, camera, lens look, duration, first and last frame from the boards, cast references, dialogue and audio notes. Shoot takes in batches, review them as dailies, circle the best one, and reshoot a region when only part of a take needs work. Connected shots can be shot together where the engine supports it, holding identity, lighting and voice across the cut. Continuity checks flag wardrobe, prop and identity drift.

Output
Takes and a circled take per shot, each with a full shot log
Gate
Shot circled
Controls
Quality (Draft, Standard, Final) and run location (Local or hosted). Pro mode exposes the rest.

Post-production

Six workspaces on one native Media Engine, so a clip plays and scrubs the same everywhere. Free

06Media

Free

Ingest and organize takes, imported footage, stills and audio into bins and smart bins, with metadata and proxies.

Output
Media pool, bins, metadata
Gate
None

07Cut

Free

Assemble circled takes quickly in a single-track view and get to a first watch-down fast.

Output
Assembly versions
Gate
Assembly approved

08Edit

Free

Full multi-track editing: insert, overwrite, ripple, roll, slip and slide, markers, transitions, titles and lower thirds, keyframes, speed changes and captions. Clips are live — swap a take right from the timeline, or add handles on a paid plan.

Output
Timeline versions (OpenTimelineIO)
Gate
Picture lock

09Color

Free

Match shots, apply LUTs and grades, and read scopes on a color-managed viewer built on OpenColorIO. Grading can run alongside the mix.

Output
Grade versions
Gate
Grade approved

10Sound

Free

Dialogue, effects, ambience and music on four lanes. Place your own music against a cue sheet, duck under dialogue automatically, and mix to platform loudness targets.

Output
Stems and mix
Gate
Mix approved

11Deliver

Free

Export masters, captions and packages from delivery presets, run license and labeling checks against every track and asset, and hand off to Resolve, Premiere or Final Cut.

Output
Masters, caption files, packages
Gate
Delivery checked

How work moves

Forward on approval. Back when it needs to.

Approve to move on

Each workspace ends at a gate — treatment approved, script approved, bible locked, shot circled, picture lock. The next workspace builds on the approved version, never on a draft.

Send work back

Any workspace can send work upstream. Approved changes mark dependent work stale instead of silently breaking it, and only the affected scenes, frames and shots are redone.

Start anywhere

Editors can ignore generation entirely. Start a project from imported footage and the post-production workspaces behave exactly the same — and they’re free.

Simple and Pro modes

Simple mode gives each stage one primary action and one Approve button. Pro mode exposes seeds, LoRAs, raw direction, reference weights and routing rules.

Showrunner assistant

A docked assistant takes plain requests — “tighten scene 4”, “make Mara’s coat red everywhere” — and always shows a diff or a job list first. Nothing runs until you approve. Collapsed by default.

Everyday basics

Autosave, undo and redo mapped to versions, a command palette, keyboard shortcuts for take review, and background jobs with notifications.
