From spark to screen.
One project. Every stage versioned.

SeriousPixel Studio is a native production suite for studios, series producers and independent filmmakers. Develop, write, design, board and shoot, then cut, grade, mix and deliver — with approvals, history and continuity carried from the first idea to the final master.

Post-production is free — Media, Cut, Edit, Color, Sound and Deliver. See pricing

Spark to screen

One idea, carried all the way through.

Type a one-line Spark or drop in a book, a story or a client brief. Every stage after that builds on the approved version of the one before, so nothing is retyped, re-exported or lost between tools.

Built like a production office

Approvals, history and continuity — not one prompt at a time.

Every stage is versioned

Scripts, boards, takes, timelines and mixes keep numbered versions with Draft, In review, Approved and Locked states. Nothing is overwritten. Alternates branch a noir cut or a 15-second cutdown, and you can pull a single scene back from either.

Canon flows forward

The approved script, cast, locations and look form a Story Bible that every later stage works from. Episode six still looks and sounds like episode one, because the same sheets, references and cast voices drive both.

A real editor, built in

A native Media Engine handles hardware decode, color-managed viewing and frame-accurate scrubbing. Multi-track timeline, ripple, roll, slip and slide, J K L, titles, LUTs, a mixer and loudness metering — with Resolve, Final Cut and Premiere shortcut presets.

Dependency tracking

When the script changes, the work knows.

Every artifact records exactly which versions it was built from. Approve Script v8 and SP Studio flags the boards and shots that were built on v6, lists the scenes that actually changed, and redoes only what’s affected — after you approve.

  • Stale, not broken. Upstream changes mark downstream work stale instead of silently breaking it.
  • Visible in the timeline. Clip badges show approved, stale or needs-review state.
  • Only what changed. Untouched scenes, frames and takes stay exactly as approved.

Shoot

Dailies, not galleries.

Shoot takes in batches and review them the way you review camera dailies: circle, flag, note at a timecode, compare side by side or with a wipe.

  • Match previous carries the last frame of one shot into the first frame of the next.
  • Reshoot region and Add handles repair or lengthen a take without starting over.
  • Swap take from the timeline — a clip points to a shot and its circled take, not a dead file.
  • Draft, Standard, Final. Iterate cheaply, then promote one take to a final render.

Production types

One pipeline, eight kinds of production.

A template changes the structure, formats and extra stages — not the tool. Studios can define their own as a folder of YAML and prompt files.

Series3–60 min/ep

Series

A series bible shared by every episode, recurring cast and sets, recaps, title sequences and batch rendering.

Short3–40 min

Short film

Festival delivery specs and a credits builder, in 16:9 or 2.39:1.

Feature60 min+

Feature & long form

Act structure, reel-based editing in 20-minute reels and heavy asset management.

Spot15/30/60 s

Commercial

Brief intake, product and logo lock, a legal and claims checklist, and cutdowns.

Web6–30 s

Web ad

One master reframed to 16:9, 1:1 and 9:16, A/B variants and CTA end cards.

Social15–90 s

Social short

Hook-first structure, auto captions, and loop-friendly pacing in 9:16.

Music2–6 min

Music video

An audio-first timeline with shots keyed to the sections of the track.

Promo30 s–3 min

Trailer & teaser

Cut from existing material with stings, title cards and a music-led edit.

Local-first

Your project, your drives, your accounts.

A SeriousPixel Studio project is a plain folder in open formats with full history underneath. It lives on your drives, backs up anywhere, and opens cleanly on another machine.

Plain folders

Fountain scripts, YAML, OpenTimelineIO and hash-addressed media, with Git history for everything. Export as one .spxz archive.

Media Volumes

Register external drives and NAS shares by ID, not path. Unplug a drive and proxies keep the timeline, script and boards editable.

Verified backup

Incremental backups to a drive, NAS or S3-compatible bucket, hash-checked after every run. Restore a whole project, a Save Point or just missing media.

Your keys

Connect your own provider accounts. Keys live in the OS keychain, never in the project. A Local-only switch turns every cloud service off.

Engines

You direct. SP Studio handles the engine room.

Shoot on open-weights engines on your own GPU, or on hosted engines through your own accounts. On set you choose Draft, Standard or Final; engine names stay in Settings and the shot log.

LocalGeneration on this machine — Apple Silicon or NVIDIA.
HybridDrafts local, finals on hosted engines. The studio default.
CloudEverything through your own API accounts. Laptops welcome.
Estimates firstCost and time shown before every batch, with spend caps.
ProvenanceEngine, direction, seed, cost and license recorded on every take.
Open weightsAlways free, downloaded by you, never bundled or resold.
